I’m Zeina Halim, a licensed psychotherapist. I want noticeable progress from day one and in every session thereafter.

While I always continue to take new trainings to keep my expertise cutting edge, I also teach and train other therapists.

I enjoy being active and in nature through activities like hiking, rock-climbing and rowing. I’m also passionate about nutrition, eating delicious, healthy meals, and using food as medicine. 

In the beginning, I typically see clients once or twice a week. As you improve, we may scale back to once every other week. I have found longer sessions to be much more effective than the same amount of time spread over several weeks. As a result, I often recommend sessions that are anywhere from 90 minutes to 3 hours. If finances are a concern, I will occasionally agree to 1 hour sessions, as long as I don’t think that structure will harm our results too significantly.

Another way I ensure results is through video-recording all of my sessions (of course, with your permission). If we have even one session where we did not make significant progress, you can bet that I am re-watching the video recording of our session to figure out where we got stuck and how I can approach the problem differently in the next session. I have found video-recording to improve my therapy outcomes so drastically that I refuse to do therapy any other way.

Therapeutic Approach and Training

I have intentionally sought out training and work opportunities with some of the best clinicians in the world, including but not limited to: Dr. David Burns, Dr. Jacob Towery, Dr. Matthew May, and Dr. Stan Tatkin.

Although I integrate a variety of approaches, I have four primary therapeutic approaches:

  • IFS - Internal Family Systems (and for couples IFIO - Intimacy from the Inside Out)

  • ISTDP - Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy

  • TEAM-CBT, which is a type of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • PACT - Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy

All four of these therapies are rooted in research and evidence-based approaches that are designed to provide relief and results as quickly as possible. While I cannot promise or guarantee results, most clients experience improvement in the very first session or the first one to three sessions.

Since 2011, I have explored many therapeutic modalities and have found that IFS, TEAM-CBT, ISTDP and PACT are by far faster and more deeply effective than any other therapeutic approaches.
